Bingchacha (Bingzhongluo—Chawalong—Chayu) is widely regarded as the most thrilling and beautiful into-Tibet route, crossing the Nujiang Grand Canyon and Hengduan Mountains with extreme scenery but harsh roads — called the "devil's road into Tibet."

🗺️ Route Overview

Bingchacha into-Tibet line roughly:

• Bingzhongluo (Nujiang, Yunnan) → Chawalong → Chayu (Nyingchi, Tibet)

Along the way:

• Nujiang Grand Canyon, cliff roads
• Hengduan Mountains, snow passes
• Dulong River, First Bend of the Nujiang, etc.

⚠️ Route Characteristics

1. Harsh roads: cliff-side narrow roads, gravel, winding dirt — demands high driving skill
2. Big elevation changes: canyon (low) to snow passes (4,000 m+) repeatedly
3. Few supplies: sparse towns; stock fuel, water, food
4. Weak signal: no signal on some sections; offline maps essential
5. Very seasonal: May–October feasible; winter snow closes

📋 Preparation

• Vehicle: 4WD off-road, high clearance, strong engine; spare tire, tow rope, shovel, snow chains
• Documents: border permit (into Tibet and border areas), ID, etc.
• Supplies: oxygen, altitude meds, warm clothes, sleeping bag, cash
