Itinerary
Arrive in Lijiang with 24-hour free airport pickup. In the afternoon, visit Zhongyi Market to see the season's wild mushrooms and mountain goods. In the evening, warm up with a local mushroom hotpot.
Drive north along the Jinsha River to see the roaring Tiger Leaping Gorge. Arrive in Shangri-La in the afternoon and stay near Dukezong Old Town to acclimatize to the altitude.
Early morning, follow local guides into the pristine forest to search for matsutake, porcini, and green-cap mushrooms, learning to identify edible species. Picnic lunch in the wild and cook a mushroom soup on site in the afternoon. Free time back at the hotel.
Visit Songzanlin Monastery in the morning to feel the solemnity of Tibetan Buddhism. Head south along the tea-horse road to Shaxi in the afternoon, check into a guesthouse, and wander Sideng Street in the evening.
Wander Shaxi in the morning, seeing the ancient stage and Xingjiao Temple. Head to Dali in the afternoon, explore Dali Old Town and Renmin Road, and enjoy Bai cuisine in the evening.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport according to your flight. Take home some dried mushrooms as souvenirs - ask the shop to vacuum-pack them. End of the 6-day wild mushroom journey.
