Itinerary

Arrive in Lhasa, transfer to 3-star hotel. No hair washing or bathing on first day. Rest and hydrate. Lhasa, 'City of Sunlight,' altitude 3650m.

Morning: Potala Palace (13 floors, ~117m), Red and White Palaces with extensive artifacts. Afternoon: Jokhang Temple (12-year-old Shakyamuni statue), stroll Barkhor Street. Complimentary Potala travel photography.

Via Lhasa-Nyingchi Expressway along Niyang River. Afternoon: explore Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon — world's deepest, longest, highest-altitude canyon. Overnight in Nyingchi.

Cross Gongdelin Grassland with yaks and horses. Pass Dagu Canyon (Yarlung Tsangpo's 2nd largest canyon) with wild monkeys. Arrive in Zetang, Shannan.

Gampa La Pass for Yamdrok Lake panorama. Continue to Karola Glacier — closest glacier to a road in Tibet. Arrive in Shigatse. Optional Tashilhunpo Monastery visit.
